A Church Alive is worth the drive
I am excited about what God is doing and about to do in your life and the life of the church at large. Across the North and the Western regions of Charters Towers, I sense that God’s set time to favour this area of Australia and its people has come. A hunger for God, His presence, His holiness and His power will draw people again to the household and life of faith.
The fledgling church described in the book of Acts, was a spirit filled church, a word- based church, signs and wonders followed the believers and prayer and boldness was the order of the day. They prayed daily, they fellowshipped daily, they searched the scriptures daily and the Lord added to their number daily.
Pressure and persecution did not cause the church to buckle, but on the contrary caused the believers to draw on the unseen resources of God and caused the apostle Paul to declare, “I know in whom I have believed. 2 Tim 1:12
Faith and a believing heart will see the promises of God materialise despite our situations and circumstances. To reign as kings in the realm of life (Rm 5:17) fulfils the Genesis 1:28 command, to be fruitful and multiply: fill the earth, subdue it and have dominion….

“The Gospel.” The Main Event.
Jesus said to “Go out into all the world and preach the gospel.” The ministry, the messenger, the denomination, the method, style, and way of delivery, are all absolutely secondary to the gospel itself. When Billy Graham packed the MCG in 1956, 144,000 people attended and many gathered outside the venue. Billy Graham was however not the main event but his message was!!!

Becoming Part Of History:
Daniel is Reading the Scriptures that foretell that Israel would be in Babylonian captivity for a period of seventy years. His heart begins to pound as he realises the time of her deliverance is near. His response after Reading the Prophecy was To Fast, To Pray, and although one of the most righteous and exemplary of men, Confessed His Sin And The Sin of the people which resulted in their captivity.
The angel Gabriel interrupted his prayer and gave him a further prophecy and time line until the end of the ages. Daniel did not display a casual “God is sovereign; she’ll be right mate attitude.” Engaging in prayer to God and His plan for the ages, Daniel Became Part Of History and a great influencer of it.

The Desert Blooms Again
Isaiah 35 has only ten verses which speak of a time when the wilderness, the wasteland and the desert, will once again blossom abundantly. It also speaks of not just the physical restoration of the land, but also the personal restoration of the people.
The eyes of the blind will be opened, the ears of the deaf unstopped, the lame shall leap and the tongue of the dumb will sing. This is the heart of the Gospel message. This passage of scripture finds its complete fulfilment in the promised Messiah. Turn to Jesus today and see your desert bloom again!

Rise, He Is Calling You!
In the Gospel of Mark’s fast paced narrative, blind Bartimaeus is taken from begging on the side of the road in the lowest city on earth, to following Jesus on the elevated road to the city of the Great King, and all in seven verses.
When hearing that Jesus was in town, blind Bartimaeus saw with the eyes of faith and cast aside his begging clothes and his dismal past. He didn’t phone a friend, but he did call passionately out to Jesus. Try it today! You will be surprised how much you will see!!!

How do we respond to those who reject the divine love of God and His greatest gift to them, His only begotten Son? The disciples, James and the apostle of love John, only days before, been given divine power and authority, said to Jesus “Lord, do You want us to command fire to come down from heaven and consume them, just as Elijah did?
How did Jesus respond? What a great idea, why didn’t I think of that? No. Jesus however said in Luke 9:56 “For the Son of Man did not come to destroy men’s lives but to save them.” It is always the will of God that none should perish. Period.

In 52 Days
In 445 BC Jerusalem, its walls and gates were in ruins. The people were little better and were being governed by foreign parties in collaboration with the corrupt local elites. The future looked mighty dismal and the people were distressed. Could they survive?
Can one man make a difference? Nehemiah, the cupbearer to the king of Persia too, became distressed when learning of the state and condition of Jerusalem and its plight. Leaving the prestige, position and the lifestyle of the palace for Jerusalem, he encouraged the people to rebuild the walls and gates, to secure their homes and families again. Under immense intimidation and threats to their personal lives they rebuilt in 52 days for God was with them.

The Original “300”
The year was 480 BC when King Leonidas and 300 Spartan soldiers defended the pass at Thermopylae to their death; against King Xerxes and the massive Persian army. It was said to the Spartans that the arrows of the Persians would blot out the sun. Their response is legendary stuff; “Then we will fight in the shade.”
700 years before King Leonidas and the famous Spartan warriors there was a man who thought he was the weakest of the least of his fathers household. His name was Gideon and he too led “The original 300” men into battle against an overwhelming army of Midianites. They defeated the enemy not with sword or spear for their weapons of warfare were not carnal but mighty in God.
