A Church Alive is worth the drive

I am excited about what God is doing and about to do in your life and the life of the church at large. Across the North and the Western regions of Charters Towers, I sense that God’s set time to favour this area of Australia and its people has come. A hunger for God, His presence, His holiness and His power will draw people again to the household and life of faith.

The fledgling church described in the book of Acts, was a spirit filled church, a word- based church, signs and wonders followed the believers and prayer and boldness was the order of the day. They prayed daily, they fellowshipped daily, they searched the scriptures daily and the Lord added to their number daily.

Pressure and persecution did not cause the church to buckle, but on the contrary caused the believers to draw on the unseen resources of God and caused the apostle Paul to declare, “I know in whom I have believed. 2 Tim 1:12

Faith and a believing heart will see the promises of God materialise despite our situations and circumstances. To reign as kings in the realm of life (Rm 5:17) fulfils the Genesis 1:28 command, to be fruitful and multiply: fill the earth, subdue it and have dominion….

Save Now
When Jesus entered the Eastern Gate of Jerusalem riding on a donkey and received a jubilant reception, he was fulfilling the prophecy of Zechariah 9:9 Behold your king is coming to you; He is just and having salvation…
Hosanna the people cried; is a literal plea to Save Now, defend, free, preserve, avenge deliver and help. Many were looking to Jesus to break the shackels of Roman rule and reinstate the glory days of Solomon and David as an earthly king. Within days the cries of all nations were answered, as Jesus did not just have salvation, but IS SALVATION, and He can Save Now!

Absolute Love.
The man who stunned the world with his religious convictions in the 1924 Paris Olympics because he would not run on a Sunday, was even far more impressive off the track. Eric Liddell started each day of his life with his quiet time with God.
Eric endeavoured to live, holding on to Four Absolutes for his life. Absolute Purity, Unselfishness, Honesty and Absolute Love. These were evident when he was interned in a camp in China occupied by Japanese forces until 1945 where he died a premature death. He was described by one man who witnessed his life in those difficult years as “The Most Christ Like Man He Had Ever Met.”

The Empowering Word Of God:
God’s great gift to humanity, the word of God, the Bible, can empower your life today. It was and has been paid for with the blood of the Martyrs and has come to us at great cost. Faith and belief in God through the person of Jesus Christ is imparted when we receive the implanted word.
The word of God is living and powerful and has the ability to read us before we read it. It reveals the thoughts and intents of the heart before we even take action. When we come to the light of God’s word, darkness is revealed, only to be dealt a fatal blow by the power of the cross, through faith in His Name, for Jesus and His word are one. John 1:1

Expecting To Receive Something.
Peter and John, walking by a man lame from birth and unable to walk for over forty years, got their attention, expecting to receive something. As believers, who can refute that God is sovereign? Yet when our faith and prayer connect with God, heavenly interventions not only happen, but are inevitable and common.
Have we been conditioned in any way, that our answers to prayer should not come while we are praying? God is increasing our capacity to believe, that “as we pray” expecting to receive something, that God will hear, and God will answer, and God will act, before we have even finished speaking. (Genesis 24:15)

Meekness: Evangelist Dylan Oakley
With only days before David was to ascend to the throne of Israel, one of his severest times of testing at Ziklag was thrust upon him. How would he respond? And would he in fact, survive?
Joseph was brought forth as a deliverer and prime minister to Egypt, only after the word of the Lord tested him. His calling taunted him while behind prison bars, for yet another year.
Moses, realising his mandate to be also a deliverer, in his own strength, found himself in exile, shepherding sheep for forty years. Moses was then described as very meek/ humble, more than anyone on the earth.
Gods’ greats have all come to a place, that it is “Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit, Says the Lord…"

100 Good Men.
Give me one hundred men who fear nothing but sin and desire nothing but God, and I care not whether they be clergymen or layman, they alone will shake the gates of hell and set up the kingdom of heaven upon the earth.
John Wesley

Follow Me And I Will Make You
Jesus said in Matthew 4:17 "Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men"
This is an enormous promise from Jesus "Follow Me and I will make you"
God is no respecter of persons, and this promise was not just for Peter and Andrew, but for any disciple of Jesus who would truly follow Him.
If you feel you don't make the grade, you are in good company. None of us do. Why? Because He becomes our righteousness when we come to Him. Just come to Christ today with a humble and contrite heart before Him. Follow Christ today.
God will make of us when we follow Him. That's a promise!

Arise, Call Upon Your God
The prophet Jonah, running from his divine mission to bring a warning of judgment to the city of Nineveh, fled. He went down to Joppa, then down into a ship. He further went down to the lowest part of the ship and went to sleep. Having been thrown overboard, he then went down into the belly of a fish, which took him down to the very depths of the ocean floor.
When our lives knowingly rage against God, our only path seems to be down, and we always seem to run into a wilderness. But Jonah called out and prayed to God from the depths. Not only did God preserve his life, but a whole city repented, and God relented from judgment.
God is calling you and I, not just to a season of prayer, but to a life of prayer on behalf of a perishing world that is sinking.

If God Is For Us Then Who Can Be Against Us?
Paul encourages the Roman Church in his writings throughout Chapter 8 that “God is for us!”  He has invested every part of His being into us. The Father demonstrated His love by giving us His Son. Jesus died that we might live and now both Jesus and the Holy Spirit make intercession for us. Every intent and every facet of God for your life “is for your good.”
But against you and I today is the thief, the adversary and hateful opponent the devil. There is a dualism in the world. Two kingdoms and two Kings, two fathers, there is sin and there is righteousness and two resurrections. Where are you from today? To which kingdom and to which king has claimed your allegiance?
